Theatre Students Perform with Charlotte Symphony
Theatre students Logan Pavia and Sam Pomerantz were featured performers recently at the 2022 Holiday Pops concert presented by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. The annual program took place December 16-18 at the Knight Theater in uptown Charlotte.
Pomerantz, who graduated the same weekend, and Pavia are both participants in the College of Arts + Architecture’s Musical Theatre Certificate program and study voice with Dr. Sequina DuBose. Last summer, Pavia was accepted to the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, a prestigious, international professional development program for emerging artists.
For the Holiday Pops program, Pomerantz performed “Two Spirituals on the Christmas” by Gary Fry and “Believe,” from the soundtrack suite of the film The Polar Express, by Alan Silvestri. Pavia performed Shelly Markam’s “Hannukah” and closed the concert with “God Bless Us Everyone” from Disney’s A Christmas Carol. See the full program book here.
“My experience with the Charlotte Symphony was truly life-changing,” said Pomerantz. “Everybody, from the musicians, to the crew, to the members of the Charlotte Master Chorale, and the conductor, Mr. Christopher James Lees, was so kind and helpful. This weekend was so special, and I’m grateful that I was able to work with such amazing people and help bring the holiday spirit for everybody who came to the show.”
