Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts is the university’s state-of-the-art facility, featuring a versatile Black Box Theater and the beautiful proscenium-style Anne R. Belk Theater. Rowe Recital Hall is located in Rowe Arts. Learn more about each below.
The largest of Robinson Hall’s spaces is the 336-seat Anne R. Belk Theater, which features a 3,500-square-foot proscenium stage equipped with a 60-foot-fly-loft for storing and changing scenery and an orchestra pit for opera and musical theatre performances. The theater is primarily used for performances by our performing arts units.
Rowe Recital Hall is located in the Rowe Arts building and has an audience capacity of 320. It is the home of the Department of Music’s Faculty & Friends Concert Series and select student performances, including the Opera Workshop and Musical Theatre Workshop.
The Black Box Theater in Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts can be adapted to accommodate up to 125 patrons for a variety of unique and intimate theatre experience. This theater is primarily used for Department of Theatre productions.
The Dance Lab (Robinson 118) is a dance studio that is also equipped with stage lighting, cyclorama and black curtains to create a performance space with a maximum seating capacity of 120. The 3,156 square foot space is primarily used by the Department of Dance for student showcases or class showings.
Our 150-capacity Choir Room (Robinson 145) is ideal for small instrumental performances, choral rehearsals and sectional practices, vocal masterclasses or workshops, lecture demonstrations or recital prep. The room features high ceilings and acoustic wall treatments, including automated curtains, for balanced sound and reduced echo.
