At UNC Charlotte, you’ll receive an exemplary dance education in a culturally vibrant city, home to several dance companies and a lively arts scene. As part of the College of Arts + Architecture, the UNC Charlotte Department of Dance encourages students to engage fully in the life of our creatively diverse college and to take advantage of the many “extras” we provide. Masterclasses

The Department of Dance regularly invites esteemed dancers and choreographers to teach masterclasses for our students and give special insights into the world of professional dance.

Study Abroad with the Department of Dance

The Department of Dance offers a summer, faculty-led study abroad program in Turin, Italy, “Connecting the Past to the Present: Baroque to Modern Dance,” led by Associate Professor of Dance Kim Jones.

Students in the Community

Whether through a formal class setting, internships or participation in faculty-led research, dance students get off campus and into the community to both teach and learn in our fast-growing city.

Barre Belle
Barre Belle is a nonprofit organization designed to expose and provide universal access to the art of dance through local community centers and schools. Each semester, our students are hired as interns to teach dance classes!
