The Department of Theatre regularly invites esteemed actors for masterclasses for our students and give special insights into the world of professional theatre.

Recent Field Trips & Conferences

2026 Broadway Stage Management Symposium (NYC)
Led by professionals who have managed Broadway hits like “Wicked,” “Mama Mia” and “Beetlejuice,” as well as the Tony Awards extravaganza, the symposium was filled with lectures and events focused solely on issues in stage management.
2026 Southeastern Theatre Conferenfce (Tennessee)
March 2026: Select theatre majors attend the annual Southeastern Theatre Conference in order to participate in a wide array of workshops, lectures, performances and informational sessions on graduate programs in theatre. This year, the conference was in Chattanooga, TN.
2026 American College Theatre Festival (Alabama)
February 2026: Student actors, designers, directors and dramaturgs learn, showcase and compete at the ACTF Region IV event. This year, students won awards in Literary Management, Prop-tology, and ASPIRE Arts Leadership.
Disney Heroes and Villains Costume Exhibition (SC)
October 2025: A day trip to Columbia, SC, for students and faculty to see Disney’s Heroes and Villains Costume Exhibit and learn how costumes evolve from concept to reality, with quotes and detailed written accounts from some of Hollywood’s preeminent designers.
American Shakespeare Center (Virginia)
November 2025: An overnight trip to Staunton, VA, for students and faculty to see three shows, enjoy a tour of the American Shakespeare Center facilities and spend time discussing the productions.
Stratford Festival (Ontario, Canada)
September 2025: English and Theatre majors visited the Stratford Festival, North America’s largest classical repertory theatre company, known especially for its productions of Shakespeare plays.
