As a student in the School of Architecture, Muoi Le learned “to be a creative problem solver and to design with a purpose,” she says. That has stood her in good stead in her current job at Good Sense & Co., a full-service design and production agency in New York. As a Design Director, Muoi oversees all aspects of production design, from concept to execution, for a wide range of projects, including sponsorship events, consumer activations, new product launches, sales meetings, and broadcast sets. Her clients range from A-list entertainment to the pharmaceutical and financial sectors. Among recent events was the opening night of the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, the premiere screening of the documentary, Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives, with a post-screening concert that featured Aretha Franklin, Barry Manilow, Jennifer Hudson, Dionne Warwick, and Earth Wind & Fire.
“My work is done two phases, first working closely with creative directors and brand managers to create compelling stories that will bring brands to life. The second phase is to take those concepts into production. I work with the production team to develop drawings, which includes lighting, sound, audio, graphics, and all the other elements for execution.”
Muoi says that an architecture degree doesn’t just prepare you to be an architect; it prepares you to be a thinker and a problem-solver. “So go in with an open mind, because there’s an opportunity to be creative in anything that you do in there. Find it, experience it, and have fun with it.”
Remembering the all-nighters in the School of Architecture, she says the best thing about UNC Charlotte were “the passionate people, and the long hours spent with them. We became a family – an odd one with many different personalities.”
