Theatre Arts Day

The Department of Theatre invites high school theatre students and teachers to attend a special day of workshops and fun during our annual Theatre Arts Day! The day will provide theatre students with opportunities to take workshops, meet faculty members and current students, and find out more about careers and community practice in theatre.

Choose from a variety of workshops

Choose to attend two of the following workshops: Fun with Dialects, Acting through Song, Physical Theatre/Circus Workshop, Costume Renderings as Commercial Tool, LEDs in Costumes, Lighting Design Basics, Soundscape Creation, Introduction to Scenic Carpentry, Shakespeare Insults, Let’s Makeup (Stage Makeup), Overcoming Roadblocks in Acting.

8:00 a.m. | Optional morning tour (please pre-register)
9:15–9:30 a.m. | Arrival & Check-in at Robinson Hall Belk Theater Lobby
9:30–10:00 a.m. | Orientation in Belk Theater
10:15–11:15 a.m. | Workshop Session #1
11:30–12:30 p.m. | Workshop Session #2
12:30–1:30 p.m. | Lunch or depart
1:40 p.m. | Optional afternoon tour (please pre-register)
2:30 p.m. | Departure

As the date of the event gets closer, we will send information about parking, buses, study guides and teacher packets related to continuing education.

Faculty and staff always welcome the opportunity to get to know prospective students and their families. If you cannot attend the given date, please contact the Theatre Department for alternative options.

Theatre Major for a Day

Step into the shoes of a theatre major as part of our theatre major for a day! Experience our program up close and in person as you visit campus, observe classes, meet faculty and staff, chat with students or attend a performance. Theatre Major Day occurs multiple dates each semester.

10:15-11:00 a.m. | Meet in the Theatre Office (Robinson 363) for a departmental tour
11:15-12:05 p.m. | Class 1
12:05-1:25 p.m. | Lunch with current students at SoVi Dining Hall
1:25-2:15 p.m. | Class 2
2:15-2:45 p.m. | Chat with current faculty member

Prospective students including juniors and seniors in high school and college/university students looking to transfer are welcome to attend. There is no cost for this event!
