Theatre Arts Day
The Department of Theatre invites high school theatre students and teachers to attend our special day of workshops and fun during Theatre Arts Day! The day will provide students with the opportunity to: see a newly devised theatre piece, participate in a workshop led by a professionally-active faculty member, take a tour of our facilities, and find out more about careers and community practice in theatre. Theatre Arts Day SAMPLE schedule
9:00–9:30 a.m. | Arrival & Check-in at Robinson Hall Lobby
9:30–10:00 a.m. | Orientation in Belk Theater
10:00–10:45 a.m. | Roots and Words performance (Belk Theater)
10:50–12:00 p.m. | Faculty-led workshops (varied locations)
12:15 p.m. | Last remarks
12:30 p.m.| Departure or Optional Tour
As the date of the event gets closer, we will send information about parking, buses, study guides and teacher packets related to continuing education.
Choose from a variety of workshops
Theatre Arts Day allows students interested in theatre the opportunity to take workshops taught by faculty in our department. Choose two of the following workshops to attend:

- Acting through Song
- Physical Theatre/Circus Workshop
- Costume Renderings as Commercial Tool
- LEDs in Costumes
- Lighting Design Basics
- Soundscape Creation
- Introduction to Scenic Carpentry
- Shakespeare Insults
- Let’s Makeup (Stage Makeup)
- Overcoming Roadblocks in Acting
