Music Scholarships

Music scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding undergraduate music majors. In order to be considered for a music scholarship, students must create a profile in the NinerScholars Portal and audition by the scholarship consideration date listed on the Department’s Admissions page.

Please note that music scholarships are not the only means of financial assistance available to music majors at UNC Charlotte. The NinerScholars Portal, maintained by the University Scholarship Office, gives students access to more than 1,600 scholarships awarded by UNC Charlotte, as well as a list of external scholarships. You may also qualify for Federal and State Grants, Federal Student Loans, and/or Federal Work-Study through the Office of Student Financial Aid. If you have not already done so, please be sure to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see if you are eligible.

The Department of Music also offers a number of Federal Work-Study positions specifically targeted to music majors. This will offer you paid employment--not a loan that you will need to pay back later. If the Office of Student Financial Aid determines that you are eligible to receive Federal Work-Study, we will do our very best to help you maximize your award while gaining professional experience within the department.
