How did you first get interested in architecture?

I grew up moving all throughout the states, which opened my eyes to how people in different places live based on their built environment. My family and I would travel a lot, so also seeing this from an international scale was fascinating. I think I knew architecture was for me when I did an exchange year in France. Seeing their architecture and the history and meaning behind buildings made me change the way I viewed every day life. My interest in community environment continues to grow throughout my time at UNC Charlotte!

What kind of career do you hope to have?

I hope to become a licensed architect working for an international AE firm! I would love to make traveling a part of my career.

What is your favorite thing about your department?

I love the School of Architecture for its studio culture, getting to know everyone on a personal level has helped us all get through late nights together. I’ve also met lifelong friends in the program that I wouldn’t trade for the world!

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts/design community?

I am currently the Director for UNC Charlotte’s Freedom By Design club, where we give back to the community through meaningful architecture-focused intervention and design.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy traveling, hiking, spending time with my friends, and going to concerts!
