How did you first get interested in theatre?
I found theater to be a creative outlet for me emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically. It’s a place where I can be myself, express who I am, and connect with other people. Getting involved in theater has honestly been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to have a career where I can help people, whatever that may look like. My true fulfillment comes from making someone else smile and making people feel cared about. I want to do something that allows me to make a positive difference in people’s lives, even if it’s in a small way.
What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte or the Department of Theatre?
My favorite thing about UNC Charlotte is the people. I love being around so many people who are passionate about what they do and about making this world a better place. Being surrounded by people who care so much about their work and the people around them inspires me to do the same.
Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts/design community?
I’m a camera operator for UNC Charlotte sports games, which is a great opportunity for me because I’ve always loved sports, especially basketball. I love watching basketball games, so being able to be part of the action while filming the games has helped me combine something I enjoy with gaining real work experience and improving my communication, teamwork, and camera skills.
Do you have a scholarship?
I have the Next NC Scholarship, which has helped me financially by making college more affordable. It has allowed me to focus more on my education and my goals without worrying as much about the cost of college.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
Love to hang out with friends, eat food, watch movies, play chess, and play basketball.
