Caleb Roenigk
Lead Motion Designer at Valtech, Charlotte office
Education:
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with concentrations in graphic design and digital media, UNC Charlotte (2017)
While a student at UNC Charlotte, Caleb Roenigk helped get the digital fabrication lab in Rowe Arts up and running.
“When the space first opened in 2015, I instantly knew I wanted to be involved,” he told Associate Professor of Art History Jim Frakes in an interview. “At the time there was no person whose job it was to oversee the space. I was one of three students who applied for and received lab monitor positions.”
Caleb and fellow student Madison Dunaway worked together to develop a brand and an ethos for the makerspace. They were also the creative forces behind the College digital fashion shows, a popular and hugely successful event held in Storrs building.
After graduation, Caleb was hired by Union, the digital marketing firm founded by UNC Charlotte alumnus Banks Wilson. Union was acquired two years ago by the global company Valtech, which employs 8000 people.
Caleb is now the Lead Motion Designer at the Charlotte branch and works with major brands such as Pepsi, Bose, Volvo Trucks, and more to create story-based content and website and interactive digital experiences.
While he concentrated in graphic design and digital media, he demonstrated equal talent and affinity for 3D work, as his contribution to the Generations exhibition in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Department of Art & Art History attests. “The Last Patch (2024), a sculpture of concrete, ABS figures, LED lighting, and turf, is motivated by themes of ecological distress.
