Kristen T. James
Kristen received a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University in 2020. She completed a Master of Architecture and a Master of Urban Design in 2026 at UNC Charlotte and is currently serving as a Teaching Fellow at the school. Her interest area focuses on sustainability and context-based design, looking at subjects ranging from multispecies architecture and urban ecology, to community-engaged design methods. Her Capstone project proposed a new public park typology for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area, balancing contextual design with a preliminary policy framework and layered mapping techniques to produce a holistic proposal for how the Parks & Rec System could continue to grow.
Kristen is also practicing at a Landscape Architecture & Civil Engineering firm as a designer and has experience engaging with the full development process and designing sites for every type of project.
