Jessica Burke (J.B)  earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is an Associate Professor of Art and Foundations Coordinator at UNC Charlotte. She is invested in foundations/first-year pedagogy and has served multiple terms as an elected member on the national board of Foundations in Art: Theory and Practice (FATE) as well as the national board of Integrative Teaching International (ITI). She was also the Conference Director for the 2021:Infrastructure Biennial FATE Conference hosted by UNC Charlotte. 

As a artist working in both traditional and digital drawing media, she focuses on concerns at the intersection of identity, popular culture, and mass media. She was recently awarded a North Carolina Arts & Science Council Grant based on her recent digital media practice, which reflects a dedication to drawing as a creative practice that is both innovative and responsive to cultural conditions. Her creative work has been included in competitive juried and solo exhibitions nationally and internationally. She has been invited to artist residencies in Oregon, Georgia, New Mexico, France, Ireland, and Hungary. Her drawings have been published in Manifest's International Drawing Annual (INDA) 13Studio Visit Magazine , North Light Book's Strokes of Genius 9: The Best of Drawing, and in the 2nd Edition of Art for Everyone by University Press. Her work is in many private, state and corporate collections that include the City of North Charleston, South Carolina; the City of Savannah, Georgia; Seminole State College, Florida; and the National Living Treasure Museum in Yugawara, Japan. Visit her website.
