Frank Ordia

Frank Ordia is an educator and historic preservation scholar whose work sits at the intersection of preservation, architecture, planning, public policy, and real estate development. His research focuses on how communities make decisions about places during periods of growth and change, and how preservation can become more proactive rather than simply responding after buildings, landscapes, and cultural resources are threatened.

Before joining UNC Charlotte, Ordia taught at Clemson University and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where his courses included historic preservation, preservation planning and policy, preservation studio, urban design, architectural history, real estate development, and research methods. His teaching draws heavily on real places and real problems, asking students to consider buildings alongside the policies, economic and housing pressures, histories, and community relationships that shape them.

Ordia received a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin.
