Anna Schum-Houck
Anna Schum-Houck is a lecturer of graphic design who focuses on foundations and introduction courses, brand systems, package design and illustration. In addition to teaching, she is a freelance designer and maker. Her curiosity drives her practice. Her portfolio spans work for large and small brands, illustrations, book design and personal projects. She enjoys challenging herself to explore different mediums and new experiences with the goal of creating unique narrative solutions that connect with audiences. She also is dedicated to bringing climate design into the curriculum by researching with the New Wave Research Project, a partner of Climate Designers.
Prior to teaching at UNC Charlotte, Schum-Houck taught at Rochester Institute of Technology, Syracuse University, University of Rochester and Wheel & Slab Pottery Club. She received her M.A. in Visual Communication from Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts in England and her B.F.A in Graphic Design with a minor in packaging science from Rochester Institute of Technology.
