Professor Publishes New Book on Animation

The Moving Image Workshop book coverA new book by Associate Professor of Digital Media Heather Freeman has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing. The Moving Image Workshop: Introducing animation, motion graphics and visual effects in 45 practical projects provides an interactive approach to learning how to create captivating animations by presenting examples of independent films, commercial films, and student work. The Moving Image Workshop was published on November 19, 2015.

Heather Freeman teaches digital media, 3D modeling, video, and animation. She is currently finishing up production of her stop-motion animation, Artemis. It will be the first installment of her Terra Firma series. She is using a ZYYX 3D printer, purchased with a grant from the Arts & Science Council of Mecklenburg County, to create replaceable faces and hands for her characters. Freeman is also organizing the Women and Video Games Festival, which will run February 15 -21 on the campus of UNC Charlotte.
