Vocal Ensembles

Whatever your major, there is a place for you in one of our many vocal ensembles: University Chorale, Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus and Gospel Choir, along with our opera and musical theatre classes. If you enjoy singing, there is a place for you with UNC Charlotte Choirs.

University Chorale
The University Chorale (MUPF 1120 and MUPF 1120L) is a mixed chorus that performs music of many styles, from the Baroque period to the present. The enrollment ranges from 46 to 58 voices. Open to all UNC Charlotte students with extensive choral experience. An audition is required to join the University Chorale. Practice: MWF 2:30 – 3:45 p.m.

Men's Chorus
The Men’s Chorus (MUPF 1122) is a popular performing ensemble for men in the glee tradition. The ensemble performs folk, spirituals, Broadway, patriotic, barbershop, doo-wop, and other musical styles traditional for men’s choruses. This ensemble is open to all male UNC Charlotte students, no audition required. Emphasis is placed on building vocal technique. Practice: TR 4:00 – 5:15 p.m.

Women’s Chorus
Women’s Chorus (MUPF 1123) is open to all female UNC Charlotte students with an interest in singing. This ensemble performs a vast array of music from Renaissance through contemporary composers. Emphasis is placed on building vocal technique and developing sight-singing ability. No audition required. Practice: TR 2:30-3:45 p.m.

Gospel Choir
The Gospel Choir (MUPF 1128) performs music from the gospel music tradition – past and present. Emphasis is placed on active participation by each student, and engages the music of various gospel styles. May require participating in scheduled performances outside of the normal class meeting times. Practice: M 7:00 – 9:30 p.m.
