How did you first get interested in music?
When I was younger, I realized that many of my closest relationships had come from our shared love of music. I’ve been passionate about the way music brings people together ever since!
What kind of career do you hope to have?
Currently, I am working towards teaching band at a public middle or high school, with plans to eventually transition to collegiate teaching.
What is your favorite thing about the College of Arts + Architecture or the Department of Music?
UNC Charlotte’s music department is a very close community. It is a wonderful thing to get to know such a large variety of like-minded people!
Have you done any work in the community?
I currently serve as the music director of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia! We are a Greek organization that specializes in philanthropy through music. In my role, I rehearse and conduct our choir composed of all our members.
Do you have any scholarships?
I am a recipient of the MJR Jazz Scholarship and play in the jazz ensemble and combo. Currently it serves as much needed tuition assistance, but will eventually include a research stipend that has historically been used to study with world-class musicians and teachers!
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I love spending quality time with my friends! A cup of coffee and a great hang are my two favorite things!
