B.A. in Music Education

2026

How did you first get interested in music?
When I was in elementary, middle, and high school I loved participating in music however I could. It was in high school that I really fell in love with it though, I participated in concert band, marching band, and for a short period of time also winter guard. It really brought me out of my shell and helped me to become more confident in myself and my abilities. It was also one of the most supportive communities I have ever been part of and it inspired me to dive further into that.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to teach after I graduate from the K-12 level and afterwards potentially pursue teaching at the college level.

What is your favorite thing about The Department of Music?
My favorite thing about my department is just how supportive everyone is of one another. I never feel like I’m going to be judged when I perform in front of my peers, and I always feel like if I need to reach out to faculty I will receive support and the help that I need. It’s a very welcoming department, and I think that environment helps to foster growth in each student and it makes me want to become better.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I love to read, watch movies and shows (which almost inspired a film minor for myself). I also love the outdoors doing anything from going to the beach, hiking, or doing picnics with my friends.
