How did you first get interested in music?
I’ve been singing since I could talk, though I never imagined I’d be able to pursue it. It always seemed too frivolous, like someone else’s lucky dream come true that I couldn’t possibly have. Then one day I thought, “Why not me?”. I had also been in an orchestra for 7 years.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to make music and perform, but honestly, any job involving music and my passion that will somewhat pay the bills would be great. I would also be interested in delving into composing someday, as well.
What is your favorite thing about The Department of Music?
The wonderful sense of community and heaps of talent. So many of my classmates are role models for me because they are good at what they do and I can learn from them. Also, since it’s small, there’s more personal connections with teachers and no overwhelming lecture hall classes like with Gen Eds.
What is one thing you have learned from the Arts + Architecture Honors Program?
My whole life, my pursuit of the arts has been crippled by my stage fright and just fear of performance in general. This program has helped me in leaps and bounds when it comes to that, even if I still stress about it.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I like to read, cross stitch, do other various crafts/arts, and go for walks.
