Degree: B.M. in Music with a concentration in Jazz Studies
Hometown: Seattle, WA
Graduation Year: 2028

How did you first get interested in music?
I always liked drums, but I think I was first inspired by marching drummers. I then fell in love with rock music because my older brother listened to it when he drove me to school, and from rock I found jazz fusion, and from fusion I found bebop, modal, hard bop, swing, and all that stuff.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I would love to play in musicals or touring bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles or big bands. I also want to perform my compositions with great musicians

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Music?
I always tell people my favorite thing about UNC Charlotte’s Department of Music is the faculty. We have such experienced and well-rounded teachers that are also working musicians for the most part.

Do you have any scholarships?
I’m an MJR jazz scholar, which means I get tuition assistance as well as a research trip to New York City.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
Other than music I really like running, mountain biking, video games, and hanging out with people I love.
