How did you first get interested in music?
I first got started in music when I was 8 years old playing the piano. I eventually started in a middle school band, and my love for music grew from there. I took part in a high school marching band, and that sparked my love for teaching and joy to share my love for music. I have now been playing saxophone for 9 years.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I want to pursue a career as a high school band director in Tennessee.
What is your favorite thing about the Department of Music?
My favorite thing about my department is the research aspect of the music education program. A lot of our courses are based in research and to see and understand it helps a lot in our learning process and as a future education.
Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
I am currently a staff member for Concord High School’s marching band. I also run a non profit organization in Cabarrus County called Forward March Foundation, which is used to donate scholarships to high school students to pay for yearly marching band fees.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I like crafting, sewing, working with my cricut machine, and crocheting.
