Dance Major Day

The Department of Dance invites prospective students to attend our special open house that provides prospective students opportunities to take classes, meet faculty members and current students, and find out more about scholarships, financial aid, and opportunities within the department.

Who should attend? Dance Major Day is for prospective high school juniors/ seniors, nontraditional students, and transfer or newly admitted students.
What does the day include? This event allows prospective students to attend classes, speak to current students, and ask questions to faculty. While students are in classes, we hold informational meetings for parents and guardians to attend to learn more about admission and scholarships.

The Department of Dance does not require an audition for acceptance; new students will be placed in classes appropriate to their level.
Admission to the Professional Training Certificate in Dance with Charlotte Ballet does, however, require an audition. To schedule an audition, contact Delia Neil, Certificate Coordinator. Information about auditions for the Professional Training Certificate with Charlotte Ballet is available here. If you audition for the certificate program in a city other than Charlotte, you may consider this your UNC Charlotte Department of Dance placement audition. Be sure to notify the Department of Dance that you’ve auditioned with Charlotte Ballet.
Faculty and staff always welcome the opportunity to get to know prospective students and their families. If you cannot attend the given dates, please contact Director of Undergraduate Studies Tamara Williams for alternative options or contact our Dance Office Administrator Jen Jacobs for a tour or to learn of other opportunities.
