Four Architecture Faculty Members to Present at Conferences
The UNC Charlotte School of Architecture will be well represented on the architecture conference circuit this spring. Four faculty members will participate in various presentations and discussions in Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, and New York.
Nadia Anderson, Associate Professor of Architecture and Urban Design, will participate as a panelist on “Design for Social Impact” at the 105th Annual Conference of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA). The event will be held in Detroit, Michigan, from March 23-25. (José Gamez, UNC Charlotte School of Architecture Assistant Director and Associate Professor, was recently named ACSA Mid Atlantic Regional Director.)
Ming-Chun Lee, Assistant Professor of Architecture, will also present at the ACSA Annual Conference. His paper, “The Mediated Community: A Historical View,” will be discussed during the Addressability session of the meeting. Additionally, Lee will present his paper “Building a University City: An Exploration in Connecting Economic Development to Place-Making” at the 47th Urban Affairs Association Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota from April 19-22.
Assistant Professor of Architecture Charles Davis will present “Histories of Observation in Architecture” as part of the “One Complex Situation: Histories of Observation in Architecture” conference held at Princeton University on April 7.
Lee Gray, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Architectural History, will present a paper, “Riding High in the Age of Masonry: Elevators in Office Buildings, 1870-1875” in the symposium “The Rise of Skyscraper City: All the Tall Buildings in Manhattan, 1874-1900”. The event will be held at the Skyscraper Museum in New York City on March 9 and 10.
