Voice Professor to Compete in International Bach Festival
Assistant Professor of Voice Carl DuPont will compete in the 20th International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition, to take place in Leipzig, Germany, July 4-16. The competition will be held in the categories of voice, organ, and cello/Baroque cello and consists of four competitive rounds in each category. Presented every two years by the Bach-Archiv Leipzig, the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition is regarded as one of the major international competitions for young artists ages 16-33. It is directed by Robert Levin, a prominent American musicologist and pianist/keyboardist.
Dr. DuPont, bass-baritone, completed his doctorate at the University of Miami Frost School of Music and has performed as a soloist with the Rochester Oratorio Society, Southwest Florida Symphony, and, notably, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.
