U.S. Premiere Directed by Theatre Professor Robin Witt Wins Rave Reviews
The U.S. premiere production of Cordelia Lynn’s play, Lela & Co., directed by theatre professor Robin Witt at Chicago’s Steep Theatre, has received rave reviews from Chicago theatre critics. The play opened on July 13 and runs through September 2.
Cordelia Lynn is a young and highly acclaimed British playwright. Lela & Co., which played at London’s Royal Court Theatre in 2015, presents the brutal story of a woman in wartime. The Steep Theatre production was praised by the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, and TimeOut Chicago.
Witt works regularly in Chicago theatre and has directed numerous productions at the Steep Theatre, as well as the Griffin Theatre Company, the Goodman, A Red Orchid Theatre, and Steppenwolf. In 2015 and 2016 she won Joseph Jefferson (Jeff) Awards, honoring non-Equity Chicago theatre, in the category of “Best Director (Play).”
