Dr. Lynne Conner, chair of the Department of Theatre, delivered the closing keynote address for the inaugural symposium of the International Network for Audience Research in the Performing Arts at the University of Leeds, England, on September 14. Her address, "Getting to a Culture of Arts Talk: A Call to Arms," was based on research from her book Audience Engagement and the Role of Arts Talk in the Digital Era (Palsgrave Macmillan).
The theme of the symposium was "Innovative Methods of Researching Audiences" and included presentations from academics and practitioners from the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and the United States. Alan Brown, principal of WolfBrown and a leader in audience research, gave the openng keynote.
