Six-Year Shakespeare Project Ends April 23

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

An ambitious six-year project to address all of Shakespeare’s plays before the 400th anniversary of his death comes to completion on April 23 with As We Like It in the Anne R. Belk Theater at Robinson Hall. Tackling six plays a year in formats ranging from lectures to full-blown theatrical productions, the “36 in 6 Project” has been an initiative of UNC Charlotte’s Shakespeare in Action.

Presented by the Department of Theatre, in collaboration with Shakespeare in Action (SIA) and the departments of Music and English, As We Like It will center on Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, As You Like It, using staged moments and music from the play as a platform to explore and celebrate Shakespeare’s works more generally. The evening will include commentary by Robinson Distinguished Professor of Shakespeare Studies Andrew Hartley and his SIA co-directors Kirk Melnikoff and Jen Munroe (both of the Department of English). A reception in Robinson Hall Lobby follows the program.

Tickets are $18 for general audiences; $12 for UNC Charlotte faculty, staff, and alumni; $10 for seniors; and $8 for all students and are available at the Robinson Hall Box Office and online.
