Dance Department Participates in NCDEO Conference
UNC Charlotte faculty and students participated in the North Carolina Dance Education Organization (NCDEO) conference held at Northwest School of the Arts (NWSA) on Saturday, February 10, 2018. The conference welcomed dance educators and students from around the state. Faculty members EE Balcos, Rachel Barker, and Tamara Williams taught classes. Fifteen students attended classes and performed in works by senior dance major Anna Edwards and by faculty member Tamara Williams.
Pamela Sofras, former UNC Charlotte Department of Dance chair and faculty member, was the keynote speaker. In her address, “Looking Back before Leaping Forward,” Sofras spoke about the development of dance education in North Carolina and the state’s leadership in dance education nationwide.
UNC Charlotte Dance alumna and NWSA faculty member Chandra McCloud organized the event.
