A composition by Professor of Music John Allemeier and choreography by Associate Professor of Dance Kim Jones will be featured on the Music and Museum concert series at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art on Sunday, May 21. The concert, performed by the Bechtler Ensemble, will present new music by five local composers, created in response to the kinetic sculpture, “Santana,” by Jean Tinguely.

The program is presented in coordination with the new exhibition at the Bechtler Museum, Celebrating Jean Tinguely and Santana, which runs May 12 through September 10. Allemeier’s piece is called Santana Mix and is scored for flute, cello, bass, and percussion.

Organized by Jones, professional dancers from Charlotte, including UNC Charlotte professor E.E. Balcos, and from the José Limόn Dance Company and the Martha Graham Dance Company, will dance to three of the five compositions: Allemeier’s Santana Mix
