Theatre Professor Delivers Keynote at Conference on Theater Education
Assistant Professor of Theatre Kaja Dunn delivered the keynote address at the Emergency Conference on Undergraduate Theater Education presented by George Mason University, July 13-17. The conference, held virtually, was organized in response to the challenges to teaching and performing that are the result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dunn’s lecture addressed “Teaching in Trauma.”
Dunn teaches acting at UNC Charlotte and is an actor, director, and activist. Her research targets reshaping pedagogy for theatre students of color as well as decolonization and issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion in theatre and their application in academic, professional, and corporate settings. Dunn has presented her work on Training Theatre Students of Color at the University of London Goldsmiths, SETC and SETC Theatre Symposium, KCATF, and The Association of Theatre in Higher Education, among other places.
