Bachelor of Architecture

2024

How did you become interested in architecture?
I have always leaned more towards my artistic side and my love to draw. Art was something that I had always surrounded myself by, my father, being one of my biggest inspirations, encouraged me in every way possible. My love of architecture began early. I had basically decided it was what I wanted to do for my career by the time I was a freshman in high school. I loved watching architecture digest videos, building Legos, and playing Minecraft, making my own creations, drawing, and designs. Basically, totally nerding out on architecture to the point where it was all I talked about, even to this day. I went on to get an Associate in Arts and am finally studying architecture. I am absolutely stoked to be learning and creating awesome designs.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to one day be able to work in one of the many firms here in Charlotte, designing many residential homes and buildings and hopefully keeping the promise to my mom and dad where I design a dream home for them in the future.

What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte, the College of Arts + Architecture, or the School of Architecture?
I love the atmosphere here at the SoA. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, I haven’t gotten to be on campus all that much yet but even through the online classes, everyone is so friendly, both students and teachers. There’s so much work, but everyone sticks together and supports each other. It’s definitely the kind of place and people I want to be surrounded by.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not drawing, I volunteer at a martial arts school where I have been training since I was a kid, I also love to watch anime and all kinds of movies as well as reading tons of manga and comic books.
