How did you first get interested in theatre?

All my life, I’ve been interested in acting. I remember being younger and performing improvisation scenes from my favorite Disney Channel movies before I even knew what improv was. I grew up dancing as well, but my heart lies in acting. I did my first production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at summer camp in 6th grade and fell in love with the process. After that, I started taking theater courses in high school, and even a few acting classes after graduation. Once the pandemic hit, I realized I wanted to take acting seriously and enrolled in the UNC Charlotte Theatre Depatment.

What kind of career do you hope to have?

Although I enjoy theatre and think it’s an excellent stepping stone, my hope is to have a career in film/ TV with the foundations I’ve learned in theatre courses!

What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte and the College of Arts + Architecture?

My favorite thing about UNC Charlotte and CoA+A is of course the friends I’ve met during my time here and the wonderful teachers who have encouraged me.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?

Occasionally, I do work at Blumenthal Theater in uptown Charlotte. It’s a fun side job, and it allows me to still be in the theater space. This past fall I also participated in a 10-minute play at the Old Courthouse Theater’s 10th annual 10-Minute Play Festival. The theme was titled “I’m waiting.” Each year writers/ directors put together 10-minute plays interpreting the theme however they choose. The title of the play that I was in was DMV-Department of Mortality Verdicts. I also just finished acting for a short film this past summer. It was directed by Mariot Valcin Jr. and titled This Is Not A Drill.  A passion project scheduled to release early 2024.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?

Unfortunately, I can scroll through TikTok for hours on end. Spending time with my friends and enjoying different aspects of acting such as going to the movies and seeing theatre productions as well. Anything I can do to broaden my horizons.
