Dance Scholarships
All scholarship applicants, including new and returning students, must apply for Dance scholarships through Niner Scholars. All students must submit application materials, including an essay and resume. In addition, incoming students (both freshmen and transfers) will be interviewed in the spring either in person or virtually. Scholarship students are active in our department and often act as ambassadors for campus events! Students are welcome and encouraged to reapply each year, as long as they meet the proper criteria.
Incoming Freshman/Transfer Dance Scholarship (Clara H. Stone Scholarship)
Application Deadline Date: New Freshman: Due by 2/15/2023. New Transfer: Due by 7/30/2023
Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and be a new freshman or new transfer student.
Clara McKay and Charles H. Stone Scholarship in Dance
Application Deadline Date: New Freshman: Due by 2/15/2023. New Transfer: Due by 7/30/2023
The applicant does not have to demonstrate financial need to apply and must be a new freshman or new transfer student.
One-Time Student Achievement Dance Scholarship (Belk Scholarship)
Application Deadline Date: April 1
Student must be pursuing a BA in Dance and must be a sophomore, junior, or senior.
Department of Dance Scholarships
Application Deadline: April 1
Any dance major, new or continuing, may apply for the Dance Scholarship. These are one-time awards. Students may reapply each year.
The most important benefit of being a scholarship recipient is, of course, the ability to afford higher education, which is something that I am extremely grateful for. Additionally, the volunteer duties required for these scholarships allow me to be more involved with the local dance community and make connections with those I see every day as well as people that I wouldn’t have normally had the opportunity to work with!
