Community open classes

UNC Charlotte Dance Master Classes & Information Sessions: Calling all North Carolina high school dance programs and studios. We would love to connect with you and your students! UNC Charlotte Dance offers FREE in-person and virtual masterclasses with our faculty in modern, jazz, ballet, and African-Brazilian dance followed by a short information session on our exciting programs.

Odissi Beg. and Int. Weekly Technique Class 
Sundays from 6-8 p.m. via Zoom

Class will focus on the foundational elements of Odissi Dance and is open to anyone with or without training. Teachers switch off each week between Kathak, Bharatnatyam, and Manipuri. Get the Zoom link.

Virtual Spring Studios at UNC Charlotte
April 11th-14th, 2022 at UNC Charlotte over Zoom.

Spring Studios provides high school age dancers opportunities to take a week of virtual dance classes, meet UNC Charlotte Dance faculty members and current students, and find out more about our department. This FREE week of virtual visitation is a chance for prospective students to participate in our ongoing classes and get a glimpse of Dance at UNC Charlotte.

UNCC DANCE SPRING STUDIOS

April 11th - 14th, 2022

 

MODERN IB

Audrey Baran 

Monday / Wednesday

8:25 - 9:55am

Fusing modern techniques with contemporary methods, this class utilizes floorwork, rigorous physicality, and personal exploration while honoring individuality. 

 

BALLET III

Delia Neil

Monday / Wednesday

10:10-11:40am

This intermediate-advanced ballet class focuses on alignment, shift of weight, external rotation, jumps and turns, as well as musicality and artistry. 

 

BOLLYWOOD

Kaustavi Sarkar

Tuesday / Thursday

11:30am - 12:45pm

This class teaches the upbeat technologically mixed beats of Bollywood dances while placing them in their historical and contemporary sociopolitical contexts.

 

TEACHING DANCE

Marissa Nesbit 

Monday / Wednesday

2:30 - 3:45pm

Examination and application of diverse theories and practices for teaching dance movement practices in a studio setting with emphasis on developing movement skills and artistry for the beginning dancer.

Sept. 25, 2021: We welcomed nearly 40 high school students from the Charlotte area into our studios and spaces for a full day of dance and discussion. Dancers took classes in modern, jazz, and ballet and spoke with faculty/ current students.

Nov. 18, 2019: Artist Kuldeep Singh was featured alongside Charlotte’s first Odissi dancer, Tikli Meena Patnaik.
