Theatre major Deandre Sanders has been invited by the North Carolina Black Repertory Company (NCBRC) to perform in a staged reading of Run No More by New Orleans-based playwright Harold Ellis Clarke. The performance will take place on February 24 at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in Winston-Salem, N.C. Sanders will read the role of Tuyen.
Founded in 1979, NCBRC was the first Black professional theatre company in North Carolina. Based in Winston-Salem, the NCBRC produces the National Black Theatre Festival.
Sanders performed the role of Sebastian in the Department of Theatre production of Twelfth Night last semester (pictured). Jackie Alexander, artistic director of NCBRC, saw his performance and invited him to participate in the reading of Run No More.
