Art Alum Has Solo Exhibition at Pease Gallery
A solo exhibition of work by Department of Art & Art History alumna Desiree Petty is on display at Central Piedmont Community College’s Pease Gallery, January 19 – March 2, 2016. The exhibition, Marks, examines the relationship between functional and sculptural works as a parallel to exploring the way past experiences impact people on both a physical and spiritual level. Petty’s ceramic sculptures present unique surface treatments generated by soda vapor firing.
Petty, who is currently an artist-in-residence at the Worcester Center for Crafts, will discuss her work and techniques at an artist lecture on Wednesday, February 17, from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. in the Pease Auditorium. The opening reception for Marks is later that evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Pease Gallery.
