Waterkotte and Kenar Featured in “Outliers” Exhibition
As part of Outliers: The Art of Printmaking, an exhibition at the Westobou Gallery in Augusta, Georgia, Assistant Professor of Print Media Erik Waterkotte and part-time faculty Anna Kenar were invited to create a site-specific installation in the gallery windows. Outliers was organized by Chadwick Tolley of Augusta University in conjunction with the 2017 Southern Graphics Council International Conference in Atlanta. The show features work by eight printmakers.
In keeping with the exhibition’s theme of regional collaboration, Kenar and Waterkotte used photographs of a banyan tree, which is an epiphytic tree that grows harmlessly on another tree. These photographs were made into vectors and cut into vinyl to create an architectural graphic overlay of the banyan tree for the windows of the Westobou Gallery.
Outliers is on view through April 9.
