Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts is the university’s state-of-the-art facility, featuring a versatile Black Box Theater and the beautiful proscenium-style Anne R. Belk Theater. More than a venue, Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts offers a space to challenge preconceptions and offer students, faculty, and audiences new ways of seeing the world in order to stimulate and amplify community dialogue. The Departments of Dance, Music, and Theatre, as well as esteemed guest artists, are headliners at Robinson Hall.

Anne R. Belk Theater
The first of Robinson Hall’s three stories houses the 336-seat Anne R. Belk Theater, which features a 3,500-square-foot proscenium stage equipped with an orchestra pit for opera and musical theatre performances. The theater is primarily used for performances by our performing arts units, including Department of Dance concerts, Department of Music ensemble concerts, and select Department of Theatre productions.

Black Box Theater
The Black Box Theater in Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts can be adapted to accommodate up to 125 patrons for a variety of unique and intimate theatre experience. This theater is primarily used for Department of Theatre productions.

Dance Lab (Robinson 118)
The Dance Lab (Robinson 118) is a dance studio that is also equipped with stage lighting, cyclorama, curtains, and blacks to create a performance space with a maximum seating capacity of 120. The 3,156 square foot space is primarily used by the Department of Dance for student showcases or class showings.

Rowe recital hall

Rowe Recital Hall
Rowe Recital Hall is located in the Rowe Arts building and has a maximum capacity of 320. It is the home of the Department of Music’s Faculty & Friends Concert Series and select student performances, including the Opera Workshop and Musical Theatre Workshop.

Are there assigned seats for performances?
No. All seating for our performances is unassigned (general admission) and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
When do the doors open for the performances?
The house will open one half hour prior to performance time. 7pm for evening performances, and 1:30pm for the matinees.
Can I take photos or video during the performances?
No. As a courtesy to the performers and other patrons and to remain in compliance with licensing, we do not permit photography or recording of any kind.
Do you offer free parking for your performances? Where is the parking located?
Yes, we offer complimentary parking for all performances! Just stop by the box office to have your parking ticket validated. Parking is located in East Deck 1, just past Robinson Hall on the right side of the street. Please click here to find directions to the parking deck on Google Maps. For accessible parking, there is a lot located directly across the street from Robinson Hall. The ticket machine does not need to be paid during performances.
Are there accessibility services offered for performances?
UNC Charlotte is committed to having an accessible campus for individuals with disabilities. To request accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), individuals should email the request to accessibility@charlotte.edu or contact the Office of Disability Services at 704‑687‑0040. Requests should be made at least 7 business days prior to the event.
ADA Parking: For easy pick up and drop off, patrons may use the circular drive at the front of Robinson Hall. ADA-accessible parking is also available in Lot 28 adjacent to Robinson Hall.
Wheelchair & Companion Seating: Available for all performances. Limited, free wheelchair-accessible parking is located in the lot immediately adjacent to Robinson Hall. Call the Box Office for details: 704‑687‑1849.
Assisted Listening: Robinson Hall is equipped with an FM Assistive Listening System, and an audio amplification system. Free headsets are available at the box office on a first-come, first-served basis.
Closed Captioning: This season, closed captioning will be available for our four Department of Theatre mainstage productions, powered by CCTheater, from AccessTech, LLC.
Large Print & Braille Programs: Large print and Braille playbills are also available but must be requested from the Box Office Manager 72 hours prior to the performance.
