Theatre Professor Named NET Board Member

CarlosAlexis Cruz will join the FY20 Board Class for the Network of Ensemble Theaters.

Associate Professor of Theatre CarlosAlexis Cruz will join the FY 20 Board Class for the Network of Ensemble Theaters, one of six new board members drawn from across the United States. The Network of Ensemble Theaters (NET) is a national community of artists and arts organizations committed to the advancement of the ensemble form through advocacy, education, and capacity-building. It has hundreds of members from across the country.

Cruz teaches physical theatre at UNC Charlotte, which includes commedia dell'arte and circus arts.  He is the Producing Artistic Director of the Nouveau Sud project and Pelú Theatre. In 2017, he was awarded a Princess Grace Foundation Works in Progress Award for the development of a solo show, Pícaro, with the support of the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York City. Most recently, he received a 2019 "Celebrate Charlotte Arts" grant from the Knight Foundation.
