Dance Students Perform with Los Angeles Troupe at Blumenthal PAC
Students in Assistant Professor of Dance Tamara Williams’s Afro-Brazilian dance class performed with the Los Angeles-based troupe CONTRA-TIEMPO on November 7-9 at the Booth Playhouse in the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in uptown Charlotte.
Founded in 2005, CONTRA-TIEMPO Urban Latin Dance Theater is comprised of professional dancers and performers from varied styles, many of whom are immigrants or first generation Americans. Nine UNC Charlotte students will participated in the program “joyUS justUS,” which fuses salsa, Afro-Cuban, hip-hop and contemporary dance with theatre and original music.
The students’ participation was documented in an artcle in The Charlotte Post and in the Blumenthal Performing Arts newsletter.
