B.A. in Music and B.S. in Computer Science

2025

How did you first get interested in music?

My interest in music started in 5th grade, when I started a band. I wasn’t too into it back then, and even considered dropping, but nevertheless continued into high school. Playing in my high school’s wind ensemble is what really solidified my passion for playing the bass clarinet. Ever since then, I’ve played in marching bands, orchestras, wind ensembles, and various other groups.

What kind of career do you hope to have?

I hope to be able to pursue both of my passions. I want to have a job in software engineering/IT that allows me to still pursue music and perform in my freetime.

What is your favorite thing about the Music Department?

My favorite thing about the Department of Music is how close everyone is with one another. As someone with another major, completely unrelated to the arts, it’s very refreshing to see this sense of community within our building.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?

I love going to Charlotte Symphony performances. Recently, I really enjoyed their performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?

Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with friends or going to the gym.
