How did you first get interested in dance?
I have been dancing for 18 years. As soon as I began dancing, I knew I wanted to continue it as a career. My passion lies in dance because it is my first love, and it is my constant in life. Without it I would not be the person I am today.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
For my future career, I hope to perform professionally in a variety of paths such as commercial, concert, and musical theater dance. I also hope to choreograph and teach alongside dancing professionally. I would also like to incorporate freelance writing and social media work into my dance career.
What is your favorite thing about the Department of Dance?
My favorite thing about the UNC Charlotte Dance Department is the connections I have made with faculty and friends. The faculty in the dance department offer and pass down an abundance of knowledge and training while providing their students with a deeper connection that we can rely on. The friendships I have made while in the department are ones that I know will last a lifetime. Faculty and friends are like family.
Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
I have had the opportunity to perform in multiple dance events in the Charlotte community through the dance department.
Can you describe your experience as a scholarship student?
I have a scholarship from the Italy study-abroad for Dance program this past summer. This has provided me the opportunity to travel outside of the country while also having the chance to further my dance training.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
When I am not in class, I love to spend time with family and friends. I also love to read and watch movies!
