How did you first get interested in dance?
I first became interested in dance when watching my older cousin perform on stage. I started dancing basically everywhere as soon as I could walk after that. I then started dancing in a studio setting at the age of two and have continued to fall more in love with the art ever since.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to pursue a professional career in commercial dance and then open up a dance studio after I am done with that!
What is your favorite thing about the Department of Dance?
My favorite thing about the Dance Department at UNC Charlotte is the sense of community that has been created with the other dancers. It feels like a giant family and is super inclusive whether you are a major, minor, or even non-dance major.
Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
I participate in the student dance club named Range of Motion, I teach at a local studio in Concord, and I participate in a Bible study group on campus!
What have you gained from the Arts + Architecture Honors Program?
I have gained the opportunity to connect and build relationships with students from other departments within the Arts + Architecture Programs. I have found this to be incredibly enriching when thinking about interdisciplinary studies within the arts.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, baking, reading, working out, and watching movies.
