BA in Theatre with a Performance Concentration and a Musical Theatre Certificate

2025

How did you first get interested in theatre?

I first got involved in theatre in my school’s fifth grade musical. I started to gain more interest in the theatre path when I started middle school. However, it wasn’t until high school that I was fully invested in theatre and in my high school’s theatre department. This was also when I decided to pursue theatre as a career.

What kind of career do you hope to have?

I want to be a Broadway actor! Musical Theatre is where my heart is so I would love to work in that world.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Theatre?

My favorite thing about the Theatre Department is definitely the people. The professors make a huge impact on all of the students, but I find the biggest impact comes from my peers. I find myself learning from watching other people’s craft as well as collaborating with them.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?

For the past six summers, I have worked as a camp counselor for the YMCA.  I have been assistant camp director and spent time on the leadership team for two of those summers. In addition, I have organized and hosted our “Lipsync” event for campers and families for the past four years. ”Lipsync” is an event where counselors can get together and put on a show for the camp. Counselors can be in choreographed group dance numbers, perform a solo act, or anything else they can think of.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?

I love to always be out and about. You can find me tearing up the club dance floor, riding roller coasters, hiking, or watching a show at Blumenthal.
