BA in Print Media

2025

How did you first get interested in art?
I began sketching at an early age but what drew me into the world of art was the Frida Kahlo biopic. After watching, I couldn’t help but say to myself that I’m going to become an artist! A successful black artist! I began to draw and practice with different media, and now I attend UNC Charlotte.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to be a master printmaker and to have my works in museums across the world.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Art & Art History?
The art galleries on campus! I always visit the galleries and exhibitions when I’m out and about. I mainly visit to support my peers and other artists. On other days, I visit to clear my head and to be inspired.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
I work as a print shop assistant in the Rowe building. I mainly make sure everything is tidy and clean for students.

Please describe your experience in the Arts + Architecture Honors Program.
What I’ve learned is that taking these courses helps quite a lot. I’ve gained a lot of skills and knowledge from classes such as Print Media, Figure Drawing, Drawing 1, and Lbst’s.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
For fun I hangout with friends, go to exhibitions at the mint or gant museum, I spend time with my siblings, sketch while listening to music, play with cat Koichi, and I’ve started rock climbing.
