Application Materials

The UNC Charlotte application process is completely online. To apply for graduate studies in the School of Architecture, submit the following application materials to the UNC Charlotte Office of Graduate Admissions :

  1. Graduate School Application 
  2. Application Fee (payable online)
  3. Official transcripts from all previous college-level institution(s) 
  4. Official TOEFL scores if applicable
  5. Statement of Purpose explaining reasons for wanting to study in the School of Architecture
  6. Three recommendations from persons familiar with the applicant's personal and professional qualifications
  7. Resume or Curriculum Vitae (.pdf document upload)
  8. Portfolio (.pdf document upload)

Dual Degree Applicants

All dual degree applicants should be sure to select the dual degree option in the online application system. Students wishing to pursue dual degrees in MUD/MA Geography (Community Planning) and MUD/MBA (Real Estate) should generally apply to the MUD program first, and if accepted, then apply separately to the second program.
 

Application Deadlines

All School of Architecture programs have sequenced curricula that begin in August so only accepts applications the Fall semester each year. Applicants are responsible to make sure that all of their materials have been submitted by the application deadlines.  Applications cannot be reviewed until all required parts are received.  It is critical that applicants check their online application frequently after submitting the required materials to ensure everything has been received.  If the online record indicates a "referred status" then the application is complete and our Admissions Committee will begin the review process.

January 15th is the Priority Deadline for applications to all graduate programs in the School of Architecture. Applications received by this deadline will be reviewed and considered for assistantships. Applications received after this date are unlikely to receive assistantship offers and will only be considered if space is available.

May 15th is the Final Deadline for applications to the Masters of Architecture programs. Applications received between January and May will be considered only if space remains available in these programs. Because space is limited, students are advised to complete their application well in advance of this date. 

August 1st is the Final Deadline for applications to the Masters of Science and Masters of Urban Design programs. Applications received between January and August will be considered only if space remains available in these programs. Because space is limited, students are advised to complete their application well in advance of this date.
