How did you first get interested in music?
I have been singing since the moment I could speak, but when I was 8 years old, my aunt took me to see the touring production of The Lion King. During Circle of Life, there was a part where all the animals walked down the aisles of the theatre. At that moment, I knew that I wanted to do musical theatre.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I would love to have a career performing in musical theatre, and then eventually, I would love to teach voice and run a musical theatre program either at a university or a theatre company.
What is your favorite thing about the Department of Music?
Something I love about the voice department is the professors. I have worked with each and every one of them, and they have not only made me a better singer and performer but also just a better person in general. As a voice department, they make everyone feel so supported, and that is something I appreciate!
Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts/design community?
I am a music intern at Matthews Playhouse, and I am currently Music Directing their production of Annie Jr.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not in class or working, I love to read, cook, and make videos for my instagram!
