How did you first get interested in music?
I’ve loved singing for as long as I can remember. It was always something I looked forward to in school, whether it was elementary general music or after-school choir. In high school, I truly fell in love with it and began taking on leadership roles. The choir room became my safe space, and experiencing the power of that environment inspired me to become a music educator.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
My goal is to become an elementary general music teacher, creating a positive space where students can explore and grow through music. I also hope to stay involved in the community by singing in a local choir and continuing to grow as a musician. Eventually, I would love to return to school to become an administrator and advocate for the arts, ensuring that music and creativity continue to have a strong place in education.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Music?
My favorite thing about the music department is the strong sense of community. It’s a tight-knit group where we can all lean on each other, and being surrounded by so many talented and passionate people has helped me grow not only as a musician, but also as a person. Collaborating with others who share the same love for music has strengthened my desire to teach and shown me the value of teamwork, leadership, and empathy. These experiences inspire me to create that same supportive, creative environment for my future students.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts/design community?
I work on campus as a Desk Assistant for Housing and Residence Life. I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to work with students and get to know more people across campus, which has helped me feel more connected to the community.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not in school, I enjoy spending time with friends and exploring new things in Charlotte. I love discovering new coffee shops and finding fun activities around the city. I’m from Wilmington and try to make it home as often as I can to enjoy the beach. I’m also a live sports fan, so if I’m not in Robinson, I’m probably at a game cheering on my favorite teams.
