How did you first get interested in dance?
My mom put me in ballet class when I was two years old and the rest is history. Before I came to UNC Charlotte, I danced in 3-4 full length ballets a year, things like the Nutcracker and Cinderella.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to join a Classical or Contemporary Ballet company after I graduate from UNC Charlotte, and teach ballet and pilates while I am dancing. Once I retire, I hope to become an artistic director for a ballet school.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Dance?
My favorite thing about the dance department at UNC Charlotte is the support and camaraderie not only between the dancers but between the dancers and their professors.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
I have only been in Charlotte for a year so outside of the dance department I have not explored much. Within the department, I have been in the fall and spring dance concert as well two pieces in Under Construction. I hope to start teaching in the area within the next year!

What have you gained by being a scholarship student?
The Chancellor’s Scholarship is a great help in helping me pay for college, and easing family and I’s financial burdens.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I absolutely love music, especially classic rock and folk, and I am always on the hunt for old records. I love to create and my favorite way to do this outside of the classroom or the stage is to sew and make jewelry!
